one team, one summer [isla reta island escapade -- photoblog]

I brought my camera to school kahit nung morning pa kaya I was able to take pictures during our class.

Then, LUNCH TIME. I tried to catch their (maria, lyle, cha, wilson and joie) faces while eating but Lyle noticed something funny about the pictures that I've taken:


Right after our lunch, Wilson and I went to CSM to ask about the afternoon plans such as buying groceries and sleeping at Mon's house. Since the weather was beginning to be gloomy, we both decided to walk our way from CSM to the dormitory and along the way we met Yuri and Neil. I waited for Wilson to finish packing his things for the trip and then we proceeded to the Kiosk and spent our afternoon waiting for Mon et. al.

Around 3 in the afternoon, the gang finally arrived:


Since it was starting to rain, we decided to go ahead of Joie, Cha, Maria and Lyle. Upon reaching kanto Uraya there were two jeepney conductors who were trying to convince us to ride on their jeeps.


Before I went to Mon's house, I first went to my house, got the guitar hero para may malaro kami overnight.

I also brought with my the Rubik's cube and look what it did to Sir Jong.


Around 7 in the evening, we finally decided to go NCCC Mall to buy our groceries.



Right after buying the groceries, we decided to EAT. Gutom na kaayo mi. So we ate at Jollibee. Then after eating, we separated into two groups: Jong, July and Joie went to Citra Mina while Neil, Lyle, Mon and Wilson waited for a taxi outside the Mall.

Upon reaching Citra Mina, we were much disgraced to see that it was CLOSED already! Dammit. So we decided to ride a taxi back to Mon's house. But then, upon reaching the kanto of Mon's place, we were shocked to hear that they were still at NCCC Mall at di pa raw nakakasakay ng taxi! So we waited for them at a small sari-sari store.

Around 9:30 pm, I decided to go home, take a bath, pack my things and convince my dad to allow me to stay at Mon's house and good thing he did.
Dad: bakit ngayong gabi ka magpunta dun, bukas pala? July: gusto ko kasi magtulong prepare ng food and the like. Dad: Maaga pala kayo mag-alis bukas? July: Oo, mga 7. Dad: San man bahay nung classmate mo? July: Diyan lang, sa SM Village. Dad: San pala kayo maligo ng beach? July: Sa Isla Reta. Dad: San yan? July: Sa Talikod Island. Dad: Island?

Maybe he was shocked to know that I am going to ride a boat before reaching our beach destination. haha. But then again, he still allowed me to go to Mon's house that night.


Anj and I woke up at around 5:30 in the morning. Then Neil woke up and later on we bought bread and eggs for our breakfast. Highlight: muntikan na kaming ma-side sweep ng isang napakalaking BUS. Dahilan: ang TINAPAY.

We all hurried to Sta Ana Wharf to catch the boat. But upon reaching there, the boat for Isla Reta already left and we thought that we are already left behind but some guy told us that the boat named 'Pacific' will also lead us to Isla Reta. So we hurried our way down there to find out na puno na pala ang boat but the boat people told us na pede pa raw. They gave us plastic chairs to sit upon and so all 13 of us occupied middle aisle of the boat.

Thirty minutes had passed but still, the boat didn't start to move out of its place. What we heard from the back was that they were still waiting for 30 more passengers to fill the boat. But take note, the Boat was already very full. Incoming passengers won't have a place to stay kahit nakatayo pa sila.


When Sir Jong stood up, Wilson called my attention.
Wilson: Ate July, mag-alis na lang daw tayo sabi ni Sir Jong.

So I stood up, and so everyone else (kaming 13 lang ha). Then I asked Sir Jong bakit? He then replied na mag-alis na lang daw kami.

Imagine this: all of us were located at the middle aisle so isang linya kami dun sa boat. When we stood up, klaro masyado attention namin kasi nga we were producing a long line.

Anyway, natakot siguro iyong boat driver of losing 13 passengers kaya biglang nag-on ang engine and the boat fired away. Then everyone started cheering at us and some even thanked us for doing that 'drama' of making the boat leave. Pero according to Sir Jong, di daw drama iyon. Totoo daw iyon kasi dangerous na daw iyong situation within the boat.
During the boat ride, Cha was able to befriend this cute little girl by giving her some Piattos.

Then after more than an hour, we finally arrived at Talikod Island. Kakapoy ng byahe. Super! From the area na binabaan ng port namin, we had to walk about 300 to 500 meters from there to reach Isla Reta. And of course, while walking, cam whoring din.


They asked us to pay for corkage. We then paid for our entrance fee. Then we set-up our tents. The boys with Cha played volleyball while the rest of the girls went out for a swim.


Later, all of us bathed in the water and played with the oh-so-beautiful white sand beach of Isla Reta.

More camwhoring followed.



When we finally got hungry, we ate lunch.


Then, back to the beach again. Since the shoreline was too dirty by that time so we decided to find better shorelines. And we reached this place which has a sign that says:

kunwari pa o..para may reason na maligo sa water.hehe:D

After the fire dance, we decided to check out the chemiluminescence ability of the dinoflagellates. And mind to tell you, they were so COOL. I tried to take a picture of it pero di kaya nung cam e. Sayang.

All of us bathed again (kahit madilim na masyado). Sir Jong, Mon and I talked about our 'favorites'. While the other lied on the sand.

It was already 11 in the evening when we decided to prepare ourselves to sleep. We made tambay2x in the cottage and later on, Sir Jong, Neil, Mon and I went to the end part of the beach and talked more. We found crickets, lots of fish and the view of Davao City from Talikod Island and there were lots of stars too. It was really really amazing.

Anyway, I got up. Inna also woke up and I told her na sabi ni Sir Jong mag-watch daw tayo ng sunrise. So we first woke Neil up. Fortunately, he woke up and got his camera.

So Inna, Neil and I went to the shore and tried to observe the sunrise. But much to our dismay, it was very cloudy that time and we accepted the fact that we couldn't observe the sunrise well. So I took some pictures and then went back to sleep.

Anj: di kayo maligo?
Mon: Di siguro.
July: Maligo lang kami kung maligo si Sir Jong.
Mon: Oo, maliligo kami kung maligo si sir.

But before that, we went back to our things and dressed up for beach. Upon getting there, the rest were already awake and we convinced them to make ligo-ligo also. And we did but except for Cha who had something. :) Before taking a bath, they ordered out some food to eat for breakfast. While Yuri, Neil and I went to the beach.
